Scott Weiland hasn't curried much favor with critics, either as the frontman for mainstream grunge outfit Stone Temple Pilots in the 1990s, or as a member of the hard-rock supergroup Velvet Revolver in the 2000s. Yet Weiland's penchant for glam rock and dreamy psychedelia, and his more overlooked gift for pop hooks, are framed nicely on solo records like `98's 12 BAR BLUES and--to even better effect--on `08's HAPPY IN GALOSHES.

Naturally, the stylistic imprint of Weiland's former projects is audible here in the heavy, churning riffs and overt nods to his major influences (Weiland even includes a cover of David Bowie's "Fame"), but it's the idiosyncrasies here that carry the most appeal. Trippy, `60s-influenced drones, Brazilian-flavored excursions, spiky power pop, and Kurt Weil-esque cabaret, among other stylistic adventures, reveal creatively new sides of Scott Weiland on this latest disc

Scott Weiland has found a home on this new record label. Give this album a good listen...you will be hooked!

1 star get this man mental help or rehab!!!!!
can anyone tell me what this man then get busted and breakup bands. 1st he wanted to be alternative. 2nd leave band..solo. 3rd..am i gay or str8. the make up and dress told me that answer. 4th, leaving velvet revolver and once again solo. if he has no clue about his direction how can his fans be. this album sums up most that i said about him. this album has no direction, random music without direction. he's lost like a little kitty. he needs slash to dust him off and take him home. if scott knows where it is..hahaha.

no STP or Velvet sound. i'm so use to him over the past few years being a wannabe axl rose. very weak album with no soul.

i would go w/crack..lol. now that skinny scott bailed on velvet revolver is the band going to blame him for their down falls and talk trash about him like they did axl rose for 17 years..lol. yes they will and they have. overall, this is a weak album but no vision. its a forced album that the main goal is money. you gotta feed that monkey. kinda odd how he jumped ship and now has a tour with stone temple priks. not for the fans but once again money based. this album nor does scott weiland support art of any kind. just a fake, plastic, LA rockstar trying to stay in the game and feed the beast.

5 stars An Unrecognized Genius
Cannot believe some of the poor reviews. This artist has expanded his horizons to a point that many of the meatheads are no longer able to follow. Only wish this extraordinary double album was also available on vinyl.
