| | Peter White Good Day CD (2009)
Sings For Playboys CD music
$14.95 Many people think of smooth jazz as something that didn't start until the 1980s, but arguably, smooth jazz started around 1966-1968 with the overtly commercial, pop-drenched albums that guitarist Wes Montgomery recorded during the last few years of his life. Love it or hate it, Montgomery's more commercial output had a major impact on Peter White and many other guitarists who have contributed to smooth jazz (including George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Earl Klugh, Chuck Loeb, and Henry Johnson). Musically, a lot has changed since the '60s, but the more things change in music, the more they inevitably stay the same -- and 2009 found White (like Montgomery 41, 42, and 43 years earlier) still struggling with a desire to improvise and a desire for mass acceptance (the thing that jazz, for the most part, lost after World War II). Of course, one doesn't necessarily rule out the another; the late saxophonist Grover Washington, Jr. knew how to be commercial and adventurous at the same time, but most smooth jazz artists play it way too safe -- which is what White usually does on Good Day. This 2009 release is, on the whole, an album of pleasant but not very memorable background music; White usually sounds like he is yearning to ...

| | Christmas At Rao's: A Celebration Of Family, Friends, & Holiday Spirit CD (2001)
Sings For Playboys songs
$6.09 A collection of some of the coolest Italian-male vocalists crooning Christmas chestnuts, Christmas at Rao's is a serviceable holiday collection, for better or worse (depending on your mood) overly focused on now-forgotten standards. Highlights include some interesting nuggets like Tony Bennett's "Winter Wonderland," Mel Tormé's "The Christmas Song," and Jerry Vale's "Silver Bells," plus a pair of obscurities: Johnny ...

| | Chin Chin CD (2008)
Sings For Playboys songs
$10.29 What began as the backdrop to a monthly Williamsburg party soon evolved into it's very own a party on wax. The talented trio (made up of guitarist/vocalist Jeremy Wilms, drummer/vocalist Torbitt Schwartz, and keyboardist/vocalist Wilder Zoby) known as Chin Chin-- along with a revolving crew of local collaborators-- blend elements of soul, disco, R&B, jazz, and breakbeats to serve listeners their unique brand of what might best be described as whiteboy neo-funk. Chin Chin's self-titled debut on Def Jux is quirky, corny, and undeniably infectious. The perfect soundtrack for your next trucker hat throw-down.

Sings For Playboys songs
$19.39 JAIMY LYNN JAZZ & SWING VIOLINIST(516) 785-0682musikme2@optonline.netJaimy has been a dedicated and accomplished musician for over 30 years. At the age of 10, Jaimy Cohen began playing in The Youngstown Philharmonic Jr. Orchestra; their youngest member. Motivated to be a musician at this young age, Jaimy bartered with her violin instructor and provided babysitting services in return for receiving private violin lessons . . . and so began her musical journey. After graduating from high school, Jaimy auditioned for the U.S. Air Force Band and was accepted at Wright Patt Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. She later auditioned and was accepted for the Strolling Strings, the president's string ensemble - only to decline the appointment when an assignment in West Germany arose. In Europe, Jaimy toured with the Glenn Miller Band and she performed as the feature violinist and chimed in with her vocal talents as well with five part swinging harmonies, and her bassoon. She also studied privately with Michael Schwalbe', concertmaster of The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Some of her prominent accomplishments include playing for Presidents Ford and Carter, the London taping of Norman Lear's, "I Love America" accompanying Barbara Streisand, recording with Sud West Funk Orchestras, W. Germany, performing for the Queen of England and the Duke of Earl. These experiences incorporated classical to jazz, swing, funk and R&B into her eclectic range of expertise. After returning to the United States, Jaimy accompanied the Jive Five, Soupie Sales, Bob Barker, Lenny CoCo and the Chimes, and countless other "50's" ...
