Tuburcul' House CD
Apparatus songs INTHEBEGINNING is an interesting collection of Madonna's aural baby pictures, more specifically the low-budget, lo-fi demos she made in early 1980 and '81 with songwriting partner Stephen Bray (who provides amusing liner notes in which he continually refers to her as Emmy). Highlights include "Laugh to Keep From Crying," a highly uncharacteristic rocker a la the Pretenders, with 12-string Rickenbacker guitar played by Madonna herself, two versions of the early album cut "Ain't No Big Deal," and bare-bones blueprint versions of future hits "Burning Up" and "Everybody."
Recorded at "The Music Building," New York, New York. Includes liner notes by Stephen Bray.
Personnel: Madonna (vocals, guitar); Stephen Bray (guitar, keyboards, drums); Paul Pesco (guitar); Danny B. (organ); Mike Bradford (keyboards, drums); Stan Adler, Bobby Douglas (keyboards).
Audio Mixers: Stephen Bray; Tony Shepperd.
Recording information: Music Building, New York, NY (1980-1981); Saturn Sound (1980-1981).
