Bon Iver Biography
Justin Vernon, aka Artist (from "bon hiver" or "good winter" in French), late of the Wisconsin-based band DeYarmond Edison, writes and performs the same brand of gently off-kilter Americana of his former act, but with an even sparser, more haunting tone. His 2007 home-recorded debut was released to nearly universal acclaim on the indie label Jagjaguwar, while his former collaborators went on to form the band Megafaun.
