Is It in Black and White? CD (2009)
Burning Streets music CDs This Boston band plays an average blend of punk and metallic rock with a hint of hardcore. As is often a feature of the genre, the verses often give way to anthemic choruses, fuzzy guitars laying down a baseline chug. The lyrics are above average for the field, though, reaching back into Revolutionary War history for "Tea Party" and recounting a road trip to Canada for "13 Hours." Most of the time, however -- again like many bands of their ilk -- Burning Streets vent defiant, controlled anger about the mass media, the apathetic inertia of American politics and citizens, and the power of rock to give them a reason for living. ~ Richie Unterberger
