Gilles Peterson Biography
British DJ and cultural arbiter Artist is the father of acid jazz (the name derives from his dance label Acid Jazz Records) and has done much, since the 1980s, to promote eclecticism in dance music, via his all-embracing DJ sets, radio shows, and compilation albums. His explorations of Brazilian, Latin, and African music and obscure European jazz add a sophisticated and inclusive feel to the usual breakbeats and grooves, and has influenced many DJs since.
