Harlem Shakes albums On its 2009 full-length debut, TECHNICOLOR HEALTH, the Brooklyn-based ensemble Harlem Shakes presents an assured collection of alt-rock songs that place it in the company of fellow NYC groups such as Vampire Weekend and MGMT. Highlights of the album include the chiming, optimistic "Strictly Game" and "Niagara Falls," which sounds like a New York-centric update of John Lennon's "Oh Yoko" in both its piano-led melody and its plaintive vocals. Easily one of the most interesting indie rock releases of early '09, TECHNICOLOR HEALTH bodes well for Harlem Shakes, and reasserts the vigor of the thriving music scene on the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge.
