Julia Goryuchkina albums Julia is a pianist, composer, and film scholar from St. Petersburg, Russia. She attended New England Conservatory of Music in the 1990s where she was an enthusiastic follower of a celebrated pianist Ran Blake and his "Third Stream" philosophy (now known as Contemporary Improvisation). After intensive private studies with Mr. Blake, Julia went on studying jazz piano and film music composition at the Berklee College of Music. Among her mentors there, she names pianist Ray Santisi, saxophonist Fred Lipsius, and film composer Michael Rendish as most influential in her development as an artist and composer. After graduating from Berklee with Bachelors in Film Scoring, Ms. Goryuchkina lived and worked in South America. Julia Goryuchkina music CDs TheatreWorks offers Ms. Goryuchkina's recent compositions, which combine the elements of jazz, classical, and ambient music. The album features performances by Todd Brunel (clarinet, soprano saxophone), Alexis Gavras and John Baboian (acoustic guitar), Scott Barnum (bass) and Scott Goulding (drums and percussion). The live instruments are combined with Midi sounds and create soundscapes reminiscent of a film score or theater music. The CD was recorded at Notable Productions, Watertown, Massachusetts under the expert guidance of Dan Cantor, well-known producer, engineer and performer. It was mixed and mastered by Guilherme M. Vaz, a gifted engineer of Estudio Soma, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The cover art for the TheatreWorks is created by the talented graphic designer, Adam Katz of Atomik Design.
