U.K. singer Artist combined her love of Barry White and other American R&B stars of the 1970s with crisp dance-club production to create a unique update of blue-eyed soul. Stansfield's sophisticated approach to soulful dance music earned her considerable success during the late '80s and early '90s in both her native England and the United States. Stansfield would continue to be both a critically respected and commercially viable artist throughout the years that followed.
