Los Super Seven CD (1998)
A portion of the proceeds from sales of this album will go to the National Council of La Raza, a non-profit organization established to improve life opportunities for Hispanic Americans.
LOS SUPER SEVEN won the 1999 Grammy for Best Mexican-American Music Performance and was nominated for Best Recording Package.
While they have only the considerable talents of the Texas Tornadoes (with whom they share two members) for competition, Los Super Seven make a persuasive case for themselves as the ultimate Tex-Mex supergroup. Texas Tornadoes/solo artists Freddy Fender and Flaco Jimenez are joined by Texan country singers Joe Ely and Rick Trevino, Los Lobos masterminds David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas and vocalist Ruben Ramos for a tribute to their collective musical roots. Though there are some original compositions here, the focus is on Tex-Mex musical traditions, and tunes penned by Jimenez and Hidalgo sound perfectly at home next to traditional folk songs. An album full of acoustic folk songs sung in Spanish by a group of (relative) cult artists is unlikely to become a national sensation, but LOS SUPER SEVEN ...

Heard It on the X CD (2005)
HEARD IT ON THE X is something of a tribute record (in spirit, at least) to the border radio stations of Mexico and Texas in the 1950s and '60s. A loose amalgam of roots-rock musicians assembled by manager/producer Dan Goodman, this incarnation of Los Super Seven features members of Calexico and ace session hands like Charlie Sexton, along with a battery of Texas musicians, including Lyle Lovett, Joe Ely, Delbert McClinton, Raul Malo, and Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown.
The album plays like a roots primer, spinning through traditional country blues (Blind Lemon Jefferson's "See That ...

Canto CD (2001)
Los Super Seven albums For Los Super Seven's second exploration of the Latin music diaspora, the focus shifts from Tex-Mex influences to the more Afro-driven rhythms of the Caribbean and South America. Joining returning members David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas (of Los Lobos), Norteno notable Ruben Ramos, and Rick Trevino is Mavericks frontman Raul Malo, who honors his Cuban roots with a rich reading of Ernesto Lecuona's ballad "Siboney" and Beny More's lilting "Me Voy Pa'l Pueblo." Fellow country music artist Trevino proves his mettle as he yodels his way through an invigorating version of Alfredo Gutierrez's "Paloma Guarumera" and an equally infectious reading of Los Trio Matamoros' "El que Siembre su Maiz".
Elsewhere, Peruvian diva Susana Baca delicately delivers the sparse lullaby "Drumi Mobila" and tropicalia legend Caetano Veloso switches gears ...
