Michael Bolton CD discography Once he became a superstar, Michael Bolton contented himself with recording covers of popular standards, whether that meant the soul hits of the '60s (1992's Timeless: The Classics, 1999's Timeless: The Classics, Vol. 2) or the Great American Songbook (2003's Vintage, 2006's Bolton Swings Sinatra), so it's something of a surprise that he neglected to release a dedicated Motown album until 2013, when he issued Ain't No Mountain High Enough: A Tribute to Hitsville USA. Lasting no longer than a tight ten tracks, Bolton picks nine songs familiar to all -- among them, "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)," ...

Michael Bolton albums TIME, LOVE AND TENDERNESS is Michael Bolton's most successful album, and understandably so. It's full of effective power ballads and such '60s-soul pastiche as the title song and "Love is a Wonderful Thing." Bolton seizes each song and effectively wrestles it to the ground, sweaty and panting. Kenny G contributes a typically oily sax solo to the smash hit "Missing You Now." Best of all, Patti LaBelle guest stars on "We're Not Makin' Love Anymore"-easily the most thrilling celebrity duet celebration of a deteriorating relationship since Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand collaborated on "You Don't Bring Me Flowers." LaBelle and Bolton each give ...

Michael Bolton discography Principally recorded at Abbey Road Studio No. 1, London, England between February 20 & 24, 1997. Includes liner notes by Michael Bolton. There's a long line of pop stars-turned-classicists that includes Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Joe Jackson and Billy Joel. The latest name to enter those ranks is Adult Contemporary hearthrob Michael Bolton, who makes the move from Otis Redding to Puccini on MY SECRET PASSION. Unlike the aforementioned rockers, though, Bolton doesn't attempt to reinvent himself as a classical composer. Instead, he relies solely on the instrument that has garnered him so much acclaim over the years; his keening, dramatic tenor. Bolton applies his larger-than-life voice to classic arias from "La Boheme," "Tosca" and other operas. The reverb levels with which Bolton's voice is recorded ...

Michael Bolton songs SOUL PROVIDER, the follow-up to Michael Bolton's commercial breakthrough THE HUNGER, is the album that turned the singer into a superstar. Like the previous album, SOUL PROVIDER features two covers. Bolton trots out an homage to Ray Charles' famous version of "Georgia on My Mind" (featuring background-vocal work from disco diva Vicki Sue Robinson, AWOL on record since "Turn the Beat Around"), and unearths his own "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You"- originally written for '80s icon Laura Brannigan. Bolton also duets with Susi Benson ("From Now On") and collaborates with legendary Brill Building tunesmiths Barry Mann and Cynthia Weill on the grandiose ballad "Stand up for Love." Engineers include: Daren Klein, Rick Kerr, Terry Christian. Personnel includes: Michael Bolton, Richard Marx (vocals); Steve Lukather, Dann Huff, Chris Camozzi, Michael Landau, John McCurry (guitar); Kenny G., Michael Brecker, Jerry Peterson (saxophone); Walter Afanasieff (keyboards, bass, drums, percussion); Michael Omartian (keyboards, drums, background vocals); Brad Cole, Robbie Buchanan, Richard Tee, Philip Ashley, Guy Roche, Diane Warren, Barry Mann, Greg Mangiafico (keyboards); Eric Rehl (synthesizer); Neil Stubenhaus, Hugh McDonald (bass); Chris Parker, Bobby Chouinard (drums); Paulinho Da Costa (percussion); Jocelyn Brown, Vicki Sue Robinson, Syreeta Wright (background vocals). Everybody's Crazy Everybody's Crazy CD (1985) 4.5 stars
CD $20.15 Buy It  Details
Michael Bolton CD discography Michael Bolton's first Columbia album had offered some reason to suspect he had a future in the pop-rock mainstream despite his arena rock tendencies. But on his second album, he endeavored to make a metal-tinged copy of Foreigner, one in which even his distinctive voice was a minor element among the guitar solos and keyboard flourishes. Bolton wrote or co-wrote all the material, but much of the time he seemed to be fighting to be heard, and when he was, all he had was a mouthful of cliches to offer. When this album missed the charts, it looked like the singer was going down for the third and last time. ~ William Ruhlmann 2008 digitally remastered reissue of this overlooked Rock gem from the man who made the mullett sexy. Everybody's Crazy, originally released in 1985, has been recognized as one of the greatest albums of its kind, a record so full of melodic Rock goodness that it seems entirely implausible that it didn't propel him to fame and fortune on the spot. Sadly and utterly inexplicably the album failed to make any commercial impact, forcing him to re-evaluate his musical horizons, which, of course, resulted in a massively successful string of hit albums but in an entirely different and far more relaxed style. With musical support from the cream of the New York session world including Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick, Rainbow drummer Chuck Burgi, keyboardist Mark Mangold and various members of Kansas, Foreigner and Balance, Everybody's Crazy remains one of the most essential, if criminally ignored, AOR release of the '80s. Rock Candy. Audio Remasterer: Jon Astley. Liner Note Author: Derek Oliver. Photographer: Randee Saint Nicholas. Arrangers: Mark Mangold; Michael Bolton. Personnel: Michael Bolton (vocals, guitar, background vocals); Randy Goodrum (vocals, keyboards, synthesizer, keyboard programming, drum programming, background vocals); Mark Mangold (vocals, keyboards, synthesizer); Lloyd Landesman (vocals, keyboards); Dennis Feldman (vocals, bass guitar, background vocals); Joe Cerisano, Peppi Castro, Terry Brock (vocals, background vocals); Paul Pesco, Kevin Dukes, Bruce Kulick (guitar); Max Rivera, Mark Rivera (saxophone); Allan St. John, Doug Katsaros, Jan Mullaney, Mark Radice, Neil Kernon (keyboards); Larry Fast (synthesizer); Chuck Burgi (drums). Michael Bolton music CDs Never let it be said that Michael Bolton is ignorant of his times. He may not always participate in them -- he spent the better part of the new millennium on the sidelines, occasionally singing covers, even indulging in an album-long tribute to Sinatra -- but he's aware of them, as One World One Love, released in the U.K. in 2009 and the U.S. in 2010, illustrates. For his first mainstream pop album since 2002, he immerses himself in cool contemporary trends, trading heavily in Auto-Tune, enlisting Ne-Yo and a pre-fame Lady Gaga for a collaboration, dabbling in some reggae rhythms, adapting some coolly synthesized rhythms without ever quite achieving the iciness of Ryan Tedder. Strangely, Bolton's impeccably recorded adult contemporary seems much warmer than most modern AC, something that goes a long way toward making One World One Love appealing: even though the songs are, as a whole, not as memorable as his earliest hits, there's a nice easy confidence here -- it's the sound of an old pro doing what he does best. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine 2009 album from the grammy-winning Amercian superstar. All tracks were co-written by Michael. Includes collaborations with Ne-Yo & Lady Gaga. 12 tracks. Photographer: Andrew MacPherson.

Michael Bolton songs Australian two CD Tour Pack including a bonus CD, The Hits Collection. 2011 release from the Pop/Soul vocalist. Gems The Duets Collection includes exciting musical collaborations with Grammy sinning Country group Rascal Flatts, Oscar winning composer\producer, A.R. Rahman, international Pop superstar Seal, Australian singing sensation Delta Goodrem, the famed late vocalist Eva Cassidy and many others. Considering his last genuine hit was way back in 1997, Michael Bolton's back catalog has been the subject of a surprisingly high number of compilations. If you're wondering what 2012 collection Gems: The Very Best Of can offer what the other 20-odd flooding the market haven't already, the answer is not a lot. Indeed, apart from the substitution of "That's What Love Is All About" for his take on Bill Withers' "Lean on Me," its 17 tracks are exactly the same as his hugely successful Greatest Hits 1985-1995 (albeit in a different order). It therefore means that the 11 studio albums he's recorded since are entirely ignored, but with only one of his 17 U.S. Top 40 hits ("Go the Distance") charting outside that time frame, it remains to be seen whether the lack of recent material should be an issue. Unsurprisingly the bulk of the track list comes from his late 80s/early 90s heyday, from the long-haired power balladry of "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You?" to his renditions of soul classics from Percy Sledge ("When a Man Loves a Woman"), and Ray Charles ("Georgia on My Mind") to his soft rock uptempo songs like "How Can We Be Lovers?" and "Time, Love and Tenderness." Bolton's star had started to wane by the mid-'90s, and while several of the tracks recorded specially for his first major-label retrospective, such as the unadulterated schmaltz of "I Promise You" and "A Love So Beautiful" explain why, the cheekily seductive world-pop of "Can I Touch You.There?" and a straight-forward rendition of "I Found Someone" (the track he penned for Cher) are arguably two of his best songs. Tacked on as a bonus disc, the 2011 duets collection Gems shows he can still belt it out with the best of them, particularly the covers of U2's "Pride (In the Name of Love)" and Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful." But casual fans will be more concerned with the first hits-packed disc, which may do its job, but ultimately, is indistinguishable from the mountain of similar compilations. ~ Jon O'Brien

Michael Bolton songs Collectables' Michael Bolotin / Every Day of My Life contains Michael Bolton's first two albums on one CD. During this time, Bolton was going by his given name, Bolotin, and was trying to be a hard-rocker. He may have had the voice for it -- his raspy wail does sound better with louder guitars than with soft-rock synthesizers -- but these records don't really work, since the material is very, very uneven (the originals are weak; the covers are good, but ill-suited for this hard rock) and the arena-rock wannabe production dates both albums badly, making them only of interest for completists. Those completists, however, should be happy with Collectables' release, even if it does omit "If I Had Your Love" from Every Day of My Life, since the disc has good sound and decent packaging, ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine 2 LPs on 1 CD: MICHAEL BOLOTIN (1975)/EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE (1976). Michael Bolton CD discography Michel Bolton gained superstar status 10 years ago when SOUL PROVIDER sold four million copies. When he cut his hair a few years back, millions of female fans were discontented and it showed just how big he had become. On the follow-up to his 1992 smash TIMELESS: THE CLASSICS, he once again Boltonizes his favorite R&B, soul, and pop tunes. Marvin Gaye would have stood up and taken notice of Michael's soulful take on "Sexual Healing." "Let's Stay Together" has been covered numerous times, but Michael's unique voice, along with a great arrangement, make it all his. Fine background harmonies and a laid-back approach make "My Girl" a winner. Dave Koz's wailing sax highlights a cover of Bill Wither's "Ain't No Sunshine". Showing his diversity, Bolton tackles the Dylan classic "Like A Rolling Stone" and sings every line for all he's worth. "Try A Little Tenderness" is one of his most heartfelt performances. Album closer "Whiter Shade Of Pale" duplicates Procol Harum's classic Hammond B-3 riff perfectly, as Michael takes it home. Engineers include: Dave Reitzas, Eric Schilling, Pete Greene. Personnel: Michael Bolton (vocals); Blue Miller (acoustic guitar); Dan Huff, Michael Thompson, Ken Greenberg (electric guitar); Jeff Miranov, Steve Lukather (guitar); Dave Koz (alto saxophone); Michael Brecker (tenor saxophone); John Hobbs (piano, synthesizer); Tony Harrell (Hammond B-3 organ, keyboards, synthesizer); Rob Mathes (keyboards, programming); Greg Phillinganes, Dave Delhomme (keyboards); Neil Jason (bass, programming); Michael Rhodes (bass); Shawn Pelton, Eddie Bayers (drums); Bashiri Johnson (percussion); Vicki Hampton, Trey Lorenz, Lisa Amann, Wendy Moten (background vocals). Michael Bolton Biography

Making women swoon with his good looks and soulful voice, Bolton was a major pop star in the 1980s and '90s, winning Grammys and selling millions of records. In the '70s, Bolton was the singer for the hard rock band Blackjack, which also featured future members of Kiss and the Pat Travers Band, but he didn't break through until going solo. His outsized pop versions of soul hits like "Dock of the Bay" scored big with boomers and youngsters alike.
