This E.P., from Chicago trio Missile, is actually a teaser for the band's actual debut, 2001's Up. Once. Around. Down. -- its entire program appears on that LP. Nevertheless, Missile isn't afraid to show off what the band does best. When Don Weaver screams "YEAH!" and rhymes "'cause you can" with "like a man" in the chorus to "Push," there's a temptation to turn this Missile out. But the track soon proves spunky, giddily inserting that same raucous yell in the center of your brain. "Princess" slows things down a bit, opting for an almost XTC-like lilt, while "Wish" shifts gears again, this time piloting Missile toward more melodic, less histrionic territory than the opening track. Power pop fans should get a kick out of Missile.
