Dark Won't Hide You CD (2008)
Night Horse albums Night Horse's debut release, 2008's The Dark Won't Hide You, pegged them as eager classic rock disciples, whose musical interests and influences clearly ran no later than 1979...OK, maybe with some latter-day purists like the Black Crowes, the Four Horsemen, and Burning Tree thrown in for a kick, and thank you very much. This stance may not have bred much originality into retro-tastic material like the title track, "Wicked Love" (check out that psychedelic midsection), "Shine on Me" (boasting nifty slide guitars), and "Worried Life Blues," which, with its jilted lover lyrics and extended solos over blues vamps feels like vintage Allman Brothers warmed over. But there's no dismissing the quintet's remarkable facility for conjuring convincing (if frequently overlong) modern replicas for sounds most of them weren't even alive to enjoy the first time around -- augmented by modernizing smidgens of aggression by way of ragged vocals, ripping riffs, and a badass attitude. In short, The Dark Won't Hide You was a promising start that presaged bigger and better things for Night Horse, later borne out with the release of their first proper long-player, Perdition Hymns, two years later. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia

Perdition Hymns CD (2010)
Night Horse music CDs On their debut, Dark Won't Hide You, Night Horse established themselves as one of the new kids in the world of hard rock, adding a modern growl to the classic boogie rock sounds of bands like ZZ Top and the Allman Brothers Band to become a hard-edged throwback to a more straight-ahead period in rock & roll. On their follow-up, Perdition Hymns, the band has added a new element to that formula, slowing things down a bit with some Southern rock, creating a sound that maintains the edge of their earlier work while adding in a bit of old-fashioned, down-home Southern groove. It's hard to sit still when the classic drum stomp of "Angel Eyes" kicks in, reminding the ...

 Night Horse Biography
Night Horse albums Bluesy California hard rock outfit Artist grew out of a shared love of '70s acts like Alice Cooper, John Lee Hooker, Aerosmith, the Allman Brothers, Van Halen, and ZZ Top. Formed in 2008, Artist were originally called the Mother Fucking Razorbacks, a name coined for the act by Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. After changing its name and settling on a lineup, the band stormed the studio to lay down the tracks for its debut album. The resulting The Dark Won't Hide You arrived in October on Tee Pee Records. The band returned in 2010 with a more Southern rock-influenced sound for its second album, Perdition Hymns. ~ James Christopher Monger
