 Preservation Hall Jazz Band Biography
Formed in New Orleans in 1961, the Artist is one of the last links remaining to the iconic sound of traditional New Orleans jazz. The scene/school that birthed the talents of Louis Armstrong and King Oliver is still alive and well in New Orleans because of the elderly veterans (plus some of their younger acolytes) of the PHJB. Touring around the globe, they have been cultural ambassadors for their brand of freewheeling, earthy jazz, featuring concise solos and collective improvisation just as in the days of yore.
