Ray J Biography
The brother of fellow R&B artist and television star Brandy Norwood, William Raymond Norwood was signed to Elektra while still in his early teens and released his 1997 debut, EVERYTHING YOU WANT, before his 17th birthday. The Keith Crouch-produced album contained a mixture of dancefloor-ready, Usher-influenced R&B and ballads aimed at the teen market. Its follow-up, the slightly more earnest THIS AIN'T A GAME, featured a number of outstanding Neptunes-produced tracks and is regarded as Artist's best work. His subsequent releases on Sanctuary and Koch worked to duplicate that record's effortless fusion of slick R&B hooks and sophisticated, hip-hop-inflected production.
