Rob Fried albums Wind Song is inspired by a magical place of light and wind. Jazz with world music influences, the songs are part of a series describing my fascination with the Chinese elements: wind, water, earth, wood, fire and metal and their application to cycles we see in nature and our lives. As a bassist compelled by a strong groove, many of the compositions delve into my enjoyment of Brazilian, Afro Cuban, Caribbean and American Blues styles. I encouraged the excellent musicians to bring orchestral, romantic, airy and expansive interpretations to their parts.
