Rutles CD (1978)
THE RUTLES are a Beatles parody group created by Eric Idle and Neil Innes for their British TV show "Rutland Weekend." The music comes from a TV movie called "All You Need Is Cash" (co-produced by Saturday Night Live's Lorne Michaels), which follows the rise and fall of The Rutles.
Contains 6 bonus tracks; 4 from the TV special "All You Need Is Cash" and 2 outakes. The CD booklet illustrates the Rutles story with photos and liner notes.
In an alternate universe, the Rutles--Dirk, Nasty, Stig, and Barry, the Prefab Four--ruled the 1960s, creating the music that "would last a lunchtime." That universe where a certain Beatles were nowhere to be found was created in the late-'70s by Monty Python member Eric Idle and its resident musician Neil Innes for the 1978 (George Harrison approved) motion picture ALL YOU NEED IS CASH. The accompanying soundtrack, simply titled THE RUTLES, wisely avoids the silliness of the movie for reverent, pitch-perfect parodies of every moment of the Beatles' career (i.e. "Get Back" becomes "Get Up & Go"). The result is an album both subtly hilarious and sonically appealing, perfect for fans of both Monty Python, the Beatles, or both.
Released for the first time on CD in the UK, The Rutles album was the soundtrack to the original TV spoof documentary film All You Need Is Cash. The brainchild of Neil Innes and Eric Idle, this expanded CD adds six tracks to the 14 track vinyl version first released in 1978 and comes in a vinyl replica digi-pack. One of rock's most enduring and insightful parodies, brilliantly mirroring The Beatles' career, it even featured a cameo from George Harrison (as a TV reporter). The Rutles themselves were Neil Innes as Ron Nasty (Lennon), Eric Idle as Dirk McQuickly (McCartney), ex-Beach Boy ...

Archaeology CD (2007)
Out of print in the U.S.! 2007 remastered and expanded version of the second CD from The Rutles featuring seven additional bonus tracks. The Rutles are the infamous Beatles parody band created by Monty Python's Eric Idle and Bonzo Dog Band's Neil Innes. On this 1996 collection of 'unreleased' recordings (actually, it's mainly material recorded specifically for this release), Idle's Dirk McQuickly is nowhere to be seen but Innes' Ron Nasty is joined by original members Ricky Fataar (Stig) and John Halsey (Barry) for more Beatle-esque fun. Features the single 'Shangri-La'. EMI Gold.

Rutles 2: Can't Buy Me Lunch DVD (2006)
When Eric Idle constructed a wacky spoof of The Beatles, dubbed them "The Rutles," and made a hilarious mockumentary in 1978 named ALL YOU NEED IS CASH, he spawned a huge cult of eager worshipers who longed to hear more from Dirk (Idle), Nasty (Neil Innes), Stig (Ricky Fataar), and Barry (John Halsey). In 2002 The Pre-Fab Four reunited, toured America, and invited trusted interviewer Dirk McQuickly (Idle again) on the road with them. Of course we meet many of the artists whom The Rutles influenced along the way, including David Bowie, Carrie Fisher, Garry Shandling, and ...
