"WaFoo(å'Œe¢¨)" literally means "Japanese Style". Each Chinese character has a lot meanings. "Wa(å'Œ)" is "Harmony, Kindness, Peace, Addition, and Japan". Also "Foo(e¢¨)" is "Wind, Taste or Style". WaFoo emerged as an innovative and invigorating force in New York Jazz scene with its unique usage of traditional Japanese musical elements and instruments.
Now WaFoo blends Japanese philosophy into variety of music styles to create lyrical, aesthetic and delightful sound for body and soul. Specially "Organic Mood" is made for those who are stressed out from their busy city lives and artificial world.
WaFoo's music is original composed by award-winning members and new interpretation of traditional Japanese folk song. "Organic Mood" features the pens of pianist Takeshi Asai and bassist Kazuo Nakamura. Each piece depicts scenes and cultures from Japan with solid jazz writing, serious improvisation and creative orchestration.
