Laurie Anderson is more than a musician--she's a multimedia artist who combines text, video, and music in dazzling, ambitious presentations. In the early '80s she crossed over from Manhattan's downtown art underground to relative mainstream success with a fluke hit, "O Superman," but her subsequent albums have displayed a growing mastery over the recording medium.
