| | Silers Bald Real Life CD (2002)
$13.05 The analog synth arpeggios and contemporary distressed electric guitars on the album feel right at home alongside traditional bluegrass instruments such as the hammered dulcimer, piano, accordion, violin, and acoustic guitar. The arrangement and instrumentation of each song serve to support the emotions that are communicated lyrically. Vocally, singers Bazemore and Williams are a blend of Phil Collins, Nickel Creek, and Caedmon's Call. In September 2003, South Carolina band Silers Bald released their debut album Real Life. Emotions include yearning ("My Heart Will Sing," "Carolina Line"), irony ("All I Can Be"), and love ("Emmanuel"). The djembe, shaker, and Wurlitzer round out Silers Bald's well-instrumentationed sound. Perhaps not so oddly enough, Caedmon's Call member Joshua Moore produced Real Life. Musically, the album is rich in instrumentation. Additional highlights on the album include the eerily whimsical theremin that begins "Turn" and the driving declaration of "Emmanuel." ~ Ashleigh Kittle Slater
Silers Bald: Shane Williams (vocals, acoustic guitar, piano); Warren Bazemore (acoustic & electric guitars, background vocals); Marcus Myers (hammered dulcimer, violin); Jason Jacobs (drums) The once independent band -- comprised of members Marcus Myers, Warren Bazemore, Jason Jacobs, and Shane Williams -- offers listeners acoustic pop with an Appalachian sound.

$11.69 However, it does depart from the series' focus on the church's love for God. Released by Essential Records on September 23, 2003, the album remains true to the collection's theme of community. The Gathering serves as the third and final album in the City on a Hill series. Musically, it is a combination of pop, folk, and ethereal sounds. Instead, co-producer Steve Hindalong says it communicates that "the way we love each other is the way we show our love for God."
True to the musical legacy of City on a Hill: Songs of Worship and Praise and City on a Hill: Sing Alleluia, The Gathering includes a strong collection of artists such as Ginny Owens, Jars of Clay, Sara Groves, Bebo Norman, and Sixpence None the Richer.
