 Robbie Basho Biography
Robbie Basho songs Steel-string acoustic guitar virtuoso Artist holds a unique place in the American folk tradition. While recording for John Fahey's Takoma label in the 1960s, Basho began incorporating the musical and spiritual philosophies of various world cultures--including the Indian modal system known as raga--in the hopes of creating a new template for western folk guitar. In the late 1970s, Basho released a pair of records on the New Age label Windham Hill. He is considered a chief inspiration for many in that scene, including Windham Hill's founder William Ackerman. Basho died in 1986.
