| | Big Sound Stand So Tall CD (2004)
$16.45 The album has eleven original tracks that bring a breath of fresh air to California reggae. The result is a mixture of original rocksteady, reggae, dub and ska that brings a fresh take on traditional sounds of the Golden Era of Jamaican music ('66-'73). THE BIG SOUND independently recorded and released their first album, Stand So Tall, in April 2004. Among other things, the album showcases the band's reverence for the early Jamaican artists like Ken Boothe, Desmond Dekker, John Holt, and many others. Since their genesis in 2002, THE BIG SOUND has crafted a unique style by blending the vintage sounds of early Jamaican popular music into the contemporary southern California music scene. Since its release, the band has been playing consistently in San Diego and Los Angeles and are currently working on a 2005 tour schedule and plans for another album

Big Sound CD discography
$13.15 Elsewhere, on tracks like the powerful opener "True Love," "Mr Wiseguy," and "I Choose You," the opulent production and silky lounge lizard vibe are reminiscent of Bryan Ferry's later work. As always, the musicianship is top-notch. R&B had always defined Palmer's singing, and the music here combines the eclectic spirit of his early Island releases with certain elements of smooth adult pop.
Along with new material, he updates one of his lesser-known songs, the James Brown-infused "Work to Make it Work," from 1975's PRESSURE DROP, as well as covering Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On" and a Lowell George song, the gorgeous, poignant "Twenty Million Things to Do," one of the record's highlights. A return to his roots seemed called for. In the interim the pop landscape had changed immeasurably. When Robert Palmer released 1999's RHYTHM & BLUES, with the exception of a collection of pop standards in 1992 he hadn't released new material since the late '80s. Songs like "All the Will in the World" would fit comfortably on '80s records like CLUES.
1999 album featuring the single 'True Love' and 11 other tracks.
