 Blackmore's Night Biography
Best known for co-founding hard rock trailblazer Deep Purple in the 1960s, then leading the commercially successful hard rock act Rainbow in the '70s (before triumphantly reuniting with Deep Purple in the '80s), guitarist Richie Blackmore formed Blackmore's Night in 1997. A collaboration with lyricist and singer Candice Night, Blackmore's Night takes its inspiration from the music of the Renaissance, as well as folk and rock. The group's debut, SHADOW OF THE MOON, appeared in 1998, and met with widespread acceptance, especially in Europe. Subsequent albums included FIRES AT MIDNIGHT (2001) and WINTER CAROLS (2006). Blackmore's Night gives concerts in old European castles, and performs regularly at Renaissance festivals.
