Punk-hardcore-emo band Vanna uses crushing guitar offensives, a blend of guttural and plaintive vocals, and tightly wound arrangements on its debut six-track EP. The soaring "A Dead Language For a Dead Lady" succinctly sums up the band's approach with jagged guitars punctuating a fluid rhythm section and a twin-pronged vocal assault, while its talent for performing evocative emo and devastating hardcore in the same song is amply displayed in the title track.
