| | Bush Chemists Dub Outernational CD (1996)
$11.49 Essentially a compilation of remixed favorites from past releases (they've done albums for the Conscious Sounds, Universal Egg, and Centry labels over the years), Dub Outernational is appealing to both the newcomer and the longtime fan. The entire album was recorded in member Dougie Wardrop's attic, and the music could be best described as a combination of futuristic sounds with a classic reggae production. Each track slides into the next, almost playing like a continuous hour-long composition -- "Show Them the Way" is a work of spirituality, while "Dub Exploitation," "Roots, Rock, Reggae," and the title track are all slinky, liquid-sounding dubs. Dub Outernational is the first domestic U.S. release from U.K. dub specialists Bush Chemists. ~ Greg Prato
Additional personnel includes: Culture Freeman, Ras I, King General (vocals).
Recorded at Conscious Sounds Studio, London, England.

ESSENTIAL DUB collects 14 of the genre's boldest, most outre experiments. The visionary production innovations of originators like King Tubby and Lee Perry have touched nearly every modern musical movement from punk to hip-hop to electronica. Arguably, no other genre has facilitated as much unique musical hybridization as dub.

$8.99 The U.K. has boasted one of the world's most prolific reggae scenes since the early 1970s, and has continued to produce fine roots-reggae long after most Jamaica-based artists seem to have forgotten that genre in favor of dancehall and ragga. Dub Revolution collects instrumental dub tracks from some of England's current roots-reggae masters, most of whom will be unfamiliar names to American
