 Billy Cobham Biography
Billy Cobham is perhaps the most sought-after drummer in the jazz fusion community. After honing his chops on the traps in Horace Silver's group, Cobham went on to play with Miles Davis on the trumpeter's incredibly influential album IN A SILENT WAY and BITCHES BREW, and eventually joined Mahavishnu Orchestra, where his technically dazzling approach--simultaneously fluid and frenetic--became one of the cornerstones of the Orchestra's jazz/rock/funk hybrid. Cobham went on to play in and lead various ensembles featuring numerous other pop, jazz, and rock luminaries well into the 2000s.
