| Artist appears on Ken Colyer Up Jumped The Devil CD (2001)
$12.09 The performances contain plenty of life and joy. Colyer teams up with clarinetist Ian Wheeler, trombonist Mac Duncan, pianist Ray Foxley, banjoist Johnny Bastable, bassist Ron Ward and drummer Colin Bowden for stirring versions of a variety of Dixieland standards -- including "Milenberg Joys," "When You Wore a Tulip" and "Doctor Jazz" -- plus a few lesser-known but familiar-sounding tunes ("Mazie," "Up Jumped the Devil" and "Moose March"). Ken Colyer is one of the most respected pioneers at spreading the gospel of New Orleans jazz in England, and Jazzology has secured the USA-only ownership of this material from the British Upbeat label. The recording quality is not flawless, but the spirit of the often ensemble-oriented music certainly shines through. This album was recorded live in a club in England an
This previously unissued program (released on a 1995 CD by the British Upbeat label) features one of the more famous versions of trumpeter Ken Colyer's Jazzmen in prime form.

Colin Bowden albums
$16.49 The music needs no introduction, of course. From "Putting on the Style" to "My Old Man's a Dustman," from "The Battle of New Orleans" to "The House of the Rising Sun," Donegan's reinvention of the American folk-blues canon was largely responsible for birthing the British rock & roll industry in the first place; for many young blues musicians of the early 1960s, it was Donegan who brought them their first exposure to the music. This Yere de Story is an excellent package, combining music and some infectiously enjoyable interview material to serve up an "in his own words" style document of Lonnie Donegan's most successful years.
