All native sons of Philadelphia, Fortune Vinson Cruse began their musical journey together in the mid 70s when the late saxophonist George Howard, introduced Dennis Fortune to Michael Cruse. As producer, Dennis Fortune displays his remarkable talent by weaving the identity of these artists into the fabric of Fortune Vinson Cruse creating a perfect blend.Background - Dennis Fortune earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in music; was awarded an individual Artist Fellowship for jazz composition from the Delaware Division of Arts and; scored the music for "Four Presidents" for WHYY television. As executive producers, Fortune Vinson Cruse enlist the talent of saxophonist Kenny Blake, and Ron Kerber, percussionist Leonard "Doc" Gibbs, guitarist Gerald Smith and Rick Iannocone, and vocalist Brenda Smith, Michael Jenkins and Zakiya Cornwell. A few years later, Fortune and Cruse were introduced to Pete Vinson, who sat in with them on several gigs, finally becoming a full-pledged member upon the end of his tour with Grover Washington. This where the seed of their life long friendship and musical partnership took root.
