| | Curve Pubic Fruit CD (1992)
$9.49 These vinyl releases were combined into the charmingly titled compilation PUBIC FRUIT in 1993. Utterly unlike either of the partners' previous projects, Artist were distinctly under the influence of My Bloody Valentine and the bands on the UK indie Too Pure, who mixed miasmic guitars, droning synthesizers and thudding electronic beats into a pounding, intense hybrid.
Artist quickly released three UK-only EPs, BLINDFOLD, FROZEN, and CHERRY, in 1991. PUBIC FRUIT contains Artist's first three British EPs--BLINDFOLD, FROZEN and CHERRY (all released in 1991)--plus an extended version of "Fait Accompli."
After a stint in the Roxy Music-like '80s band State Of Play and a 1989 "solo" record by Toni Halliday, longtime musical partners Halliday (vocals) and Dean Garcia (guitars/keyboards) formed Artist with a few musical partners who largely stayed in the background.

 Curve Biography
A British duo consisting of vocalist Toni Halliday and guitarist Dean Garcia, Artist served as sort of a Blondie for the early 1990s shoegaze/techno set. Both dreamy and aggressive, sometimes at the same time, the band channeled My Bloody Valentine's noisy guitar drones into danceable, beat-driven tunes that featured Halliday's sultry cooing. Although Artist went on hiatus in the mid-`90s, it returned with 1998's COME CLEAN, proving that it still had a thing or two to teach obvious successors such as Garbage.
