Freedom Call: Chris Bay (vocals, guitar, keyboards); Sascha Gerstner (guitar); Ilker Ersin (bass); Dan Zimmermann (drums). The group gives us some segments of songs that really shine, but the overall result teeters between blatant pompousness and unintended silliness. However, their particular choice of style for their artistic expression is a form of prog metal that is way too overblown and over the top in its fantasy and symphonic aspirations. Make no mistake; the members of Freedom Call are no slouches in the musical talent department. Recorded at Hansen, Hamburg, Germany; Karo, Brackel, Germany; C.C.C., Braumingshof, Germany; FC Studios, Nurnberg, Germany between December, 1999 and September, 2000.

Or, as their detractors would call it: generic. To that end, most would agree that Germany's Freedom Call have, over the course of their first few albums, been an asset to this philosophy by embodying power metal at its most steadfast and true. Power metal has never distinguished itself as the most adventurous of metallic subgenres; in fact, if anything, it represents the exact opposite by obeying most of the core devices most often acknowledged as "classic" or inherent to the form. Studio release number four brings that spine tingling progressive sound to your town.
