Dan Deacon Biography
While Baltimore-based electronic music artist Artist could easily be mistaken for a textbook outsider artist, the irreverent performer is actually an academically minded, university-trained composer. His cut-&-paste, electro-glitch approach results in highly danceable tunes heavy on absurdist quirks and childlike giddiness. His live shows quickly became legendary for their over-the-top energy, as well as for the sight of the undeniably goofy-looking Deacon attacking his setup of electronic gadgets with the gusto of the fiercest punk bands. He released his proper full-length debut, SPIDERMAN OF THE RINGS, in 2007 on the Carpark label and continued to record and release material at a brisk clip.
