Despite what could be perceived as an apparent gimmick of enlisting a frontman whose parents are pop diva Cher and gruff southern rock legend Greg Allman, (that would be Elijiah Blue aka P. COMMENCEMENT was cancelled without ever being released by Sire Records.
Additional personnel includes: Jay Gordon (vocals, bass); Jonathan Davis, Ritchie Berkenhead (vocals); Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar); Jed Whedon (piano); John Taylor (bass); Sunny Levine (beats).
A buzz band that's been bubbling under the surface since the late '90s due to a number of failed label deals, Deadsy finally struck gold with their Dreamworks debut COMMENCEMENT. Think ominous synth-pop along the lines of Gary Numan coupled with heavy aggro-rock guitars with the emphasis leaning more towards the former.
What you'll come away with is fluffy, tinkly new wave with a bite ("Mansion World"), growling synth-driven workouts with a prog-rock attitude ("The Keys To Gramercy Park" featuring Korn's Jonathan Davis on vocals), and moody ballads that should list Korg keyboards in the composer credits ("Brand New Love"). Exeter Blue I), Deadsy couldn't be further from the genres associated with Blue's parents.
