The late-'90s swing/lounge revival, exemplified by acts like Squirrel Nut Zippers, The Flying Neutrinos and Dave's True Story, gave a new generation of pop musicians access to a previously taboo (or at least untapped) vocabulary of tonal colors and arrangement and compositonal styles.
