Alexa Weber Morales: Vernon Staggers, Brian Dyer, Patricia Bahia, Helen Bernard Gray, Kimiko Joy, Sandy Cressman (vocals); André Bush, Ricardo Peixoto (guitar); Rick Vandivier (acoustic guitar); Anthony Blea (violin); Mimi Dye (viola); Monica Scott (cello); Rev. She sings Bizet's "Habanero," some Afro-Cuban jazz, a Jobim medley, some salsa, with an overdubbed a cappella group ("Calling You"), on one piece that is close to opera ("Angelitos Negros") and a closing pop ballad. She is a talent who will certainly be heard from often in the future. Alexa Weber Morales, who has a beautiful voice, certainly shows off her versatility on Vagabundeo. Since she improvises in spots and has a spontaneous spirit in even the most tightly arranged setting, she is a jazz singer but one very open to many other influences. The personnel and instrumentation change from track-to-track, but there is a unity to this set with Morales' vocals being consistently rewarding and enthusiastic. She switches effortlessly between Spanish, Portuguese and English and shows plenty of feeling in each language.
