| | Big Smash CDs (1980) Reissue; Deluxe Edition
$9.89 Originally released in 1980, BIG SMASH was, as the title cheekily implies, "Wreckless" Eric Goulden's bid at crafting an accessible, mainstream pop/rock record. While the album's relatively high-end production often seems at odds with the scruffy British punter's rough-and-tumble sound, ...

 Wreckless Eric Biography
"Wreckless" Eric Goulden was the shaggy, unassuming Everyman of the Stiff Records stable of songwriters in the late 1970s, and helped define that post-pub-rock, early-new wave aesthetic that made the label so special. His jangly, melodic tunes, sung in a natural voice, conveyed an air of drunken cockiness mixed with self-deprecation. His biggest recording, the yearning "Whole Wide World," charted in the U.K. and has been covered by many artists, and Cliff Richard's 1981 cover of "Broken Doll" cracked the U.K. pop charts. Goulden wrote an amusing autobiography in 2004, and continues to write songs and tour in the '00s.
