Although Tim Fite is at heart a provocative political singer-songwriter pitched somewhere between early Billy Bragg and Rage Against the Machine, his music is heavily hip-hop-influenced and is based on unusual, obscure samples as much as on the expected acoustic guitar. FAIR AIN'T FAIR, a thematic counterpoint to 2007's GONE AIN'T GONE, is an album of passionate songs that range from the hymn-like "Inside Man" to the piano-based waltz, "Yesterday's Garden."
