 Dan Fogelberg Biography
After a few false starts, singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg's career got moving on the release of the 1977 Joe Walsh-produced SOUVENIRS album, featuring the lovely signature tune "Illinois." Supporting gigs for the Eagles increased his public exposure, and the artist released albums on a slow but steady schedule. He had a knack for crafting pretty acoustic folk numbers and singing in a plaintive and emotionally evocative voice, but could also whip up rockers, country-ish fare, and boisterous bluegrass. The peak of his commercial success came with 1981's THE INNOCENT AGE, which included two songs that have become easy-listening radio staples ("Longer," "Same Old Lang Syne"), but he continued to record and perform for loyal audiences for years after. In 2004, the singer was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and succumbed to his illness three years later.
