| | Delta Meets Detroit: Aretha's Blues CD (1998)
$6.09 The title may be ARETHA'S BLUES, but this compilation goes far beyond such a simple designation. This selection of early Atlantic material finds Franklin mixing gospel with the deep soul of her Muscle Shoals back-up crew on tracks like "Today ...

| Soul '69 CD (1969)
$5.95 The title is a bit of a misnomer--this album, originally released in 1969, should have been called "Aretha's Jazz" or "The Queen of Soul Swings." Aretha's powerful, authoritative singing is consistent with her best '60s & early '70s work, but ...

| Queen In Waiting: The Columbia Years 1960-65 CDs (2002) Remastered

 Aretha Franklin Biography
Aretha Franklin is one of the most important and influential female soul singers of the 20th century. The daughter of famed preacher Rev. C.L. Franklin, Memphis-born Aretha started out singing gospel while still in her teens in the 1950s, subsequently moving on to jazz and pop. She didn't hit her stride until her string of 1960s R&B hits on Atlantic records--"Respect," "Chain of Fools," and many others--which earned her the lifelong title "the Queen of Soul." Franklin's powerful, emotional voice goes straight to the heart--no list of the greatest voices in recorded history would be complete without her.
