 Crystal Gayle Biography
Brenda Gail Webb, renamed Crystal Gayle at the suggestion of her older sister, Loretta Lynn, had a number of high-charting country hits in the early-to-mid 1970s. She became a mega-star and the first platinum-selling female country singer when her torchy 1977 single, "Don't it Make My Brown Eyes Blue," topped both the country and pop charts. With her sweet, expressive vocals, glamorous good looks, and trademark floor-length hair, she was the country crossover star of the decade, and continued to release hits through the '80s, tallying 18 number ones and many more Top Ten and Top Twenty hits.
