 Johnny Hartman Biography
Johnny Hartman is one of the most unfairly overlooked singers in the jazz vocal tradition. A master of the smooth and silky ballad, Hartman has become synonymous with the seductive powers of a sweet croon, influencing many a slow-jam heartthrob to have followed him. Still, Hartman is best known for his landmark 1963 album JOHNNY HARTMAN AND JOHN COLTRANE. It is this recording, more than any other, that has kept Hartman in the hearts (and ears) of jazz aficionados to this day. Hartman passed away in 1983.
