 James Hunter Biography
Upon first listen, one might think James Hunter is some sort of lost American soul talent from long ago time resurrected for a new generation of collectors and hepcats. In fact, he is a former train conductor born in Colchester, England, who, since the late 1990s, has created several albums' worth of impeccably composed retro soul and R&B in the style of Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, and the 5 Royales. A find of the U.K.'s most famous soul man, Van Morrison, Hunter's profile has steadily increased since his 1996 debut. He finally found success in the United States with the release of his 2006 masterpiece on Rounder Records, PEOPLE GONNA TALK.
