| Ken Ikeda Tzuki (Moon) CD (2000)
$13.29 New age fans might have some difficulties relating to these beautiful but troubled soundscapes (like looking at an underwater fantasy landscape) and avant-garde electronics fans will definitely be destabilized by the conspicuous simplicity of the results. Always on the verge of analog synthesis and electronics, of 1970s German-school electronic music and 1990s computer manipulation, Ikeda's music is both pleasing and haunting -- not to mention impossible to categorize. "444" is the most conventional track of the set, a delicate cycling motif, but stronger highlights are found on the title track and "Hydantol." The sound palette may be a bit limited, but it actually helps, making Tzuki (Moon) a comfortable late-night listening experience. A strongly recommended discovery. And then, it feels as if the crystal liquefied and became water, since nothing is strong enough to apply pressure on it: songs drift by, a gentle melody accompanied by undercurrents of backward notes. Tzuki (Moon) is made from shards of crystal, delicately chiseled and assembled into skeletons of songs. Ken Ikeda's music is crystalline.

| Ken Ikeda Tzuki CD (2007) (Import) Import
$17.45 Hypnotic sound-fields strangely reminiscent of early Durrutti Column. Having been recently featured in the Hayward Gallery's Sonic Boom exhibition for his collaboration with the Japanese video artist Mariko Mori, Tzuki (Moon) is Ken Ikeda's first CD release in his own right. Touch is proud to present the first release by Japanese sound artist Ken Ikeda. I will be happy if, by saying a mass for our ancestors, I can reconstruct the time of darkness and the energy of the universe and so reach the far ends of the space between frames. 'This work has as its purpose taking samples from old movies and, by erecting a memorial for the blanks between frames, communicating with the god of images and attracting that holy being.

Ken Ikeda CD discography
$15.79 Just as Chris Brann followed up his debut album, Release, with a remix collection, Re-Release, he followed up his second album, Morning Light, with Relight, a seamlessly mixed collection of remixes from that album that comes with an accompanying bonus disc of yet more remixes, these dating from between 1998 and 2005. All of this amounts to a whopping 22 tracks of Ananda Project, almost of all of which, amazingly, are on a par with Brann's standard
