"This Is Home" is a cabaret-like number, rich with theatrical character, with an alluring trumpet solo that conjures the Beatles' "Penny Lane." NRBQ pianist Terry Adams guests on "What'll It Be," a gorgeous song that sounds more like a 60-year old classic than the Chandler Travis original it really is (as are all but one of the songs on this set). From the first measures of this album, Chandler Travis makes it clear he is indeed leading a large ensemble (though not what the word philharmonic would ordinarily bring to mind). Variety and vibrant colors abound elsewhere, too. With a large horn section and additional percussion, this music sparkles with the trimmings of tropical festivity.
"That's What She Said" and "Baby Come Get Your Cat" are party songs of the highest order.
