 Elmore James Biography
Elmore James built a blues career largely around one milestone slide-guitar lick, but what a lick it was! Copped from Robert Johnson's "Dust My Broom," James's frantic trademark run can safely be cited as one of the cornerstones of rock & roll, from Eric Clapton to George Thorogood. The Mississippi bluesman recorded for a variety of labels throughout the '50s, but died in 1963, at the peak of his influence.
