Jandek Biography
Jandek CD discography The ultimate island unto himself, Artist creates music that is loneliness, isolation, despair. Notoriously private, he records in solitude on a record label that is merely a guise for himself (only revealed in his third decade of recording). His compositions slowly develop into wandering odes, never finding the purchase of a hook, yet remaining hauntingly compelling. He released his first record under the alias, The Units, a nod to music industry facelessness, but each following record bore the Artist brand. For over 25 years, the Houston native remained an enigma, obfuscating his true identity, never granting an interview. Artist finally began to shed the shroud of secrecy in 2004 when he gave his first ever concert in Glasgow, Scotland.
