 Joan As Police Woman Biography
Joan Wasser was an indie-rock fixture in the '90s, from her time as The Damnbuilders' violinist to her notoriety as Jeff Buckley's girlfriend when he tragically drowned. She was also an in-demand touring and session musician for everyone from Lou Reed to Sheryl Crow. In the early 2000s, Wasser broke out on her own, forming Joan As Policewoman (which now consists of Wasser on vocals, guitar, piano and violins, as well as Timo Ellis on bass and Parker Kindred on drums). Over the course of the group's three records, they have spanned the gamut from hushed folk to ambient chamber pop, garnering contributions from and comparisons to the likes of Rufus Wainwright and Antony And The Johnsons.
