Kai Winding (not Benny Green) is on trombone on the latter date and baritonist Gerry Mulligan (who is listed) is not on the record at all. Tenor great Stan Getz teams up with guitarist Jimmy Raney for three early recordings; fellow tenor Wardell Gray is featured with a quartet on "Stoned"; Jimmy Raney and Terry Swope have Jackie And Roy-type vocals on two boppish numbers; Lester Young soundalike Paul Quinichette is featured on a pair of songs; and there are two selections that team vocalists Dave Lambert, Buddy Stewart and Blossom Dearie. The music is actually quite good, although much of it has since been reissued by Fantasy. 16 reggae versions of Beatle songs recorded from the late-60's through the mid-70's.
Many of Mainstream's reissue LPs were kind of confusing, including this album, which does not list recording dates and confuses some of the personnel. Good music, erratic packaging.
