 Juanes Biography
Unlike many Latin crossover stars, Colombian-born Juanes (Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez) sings entirely en Espanol. This hasn't hindered him, however, from having a wildly successful international career. He balances traditional pop songcraft with Latin rhythms, rocking guitar leads, and a distinctly Spanish lyrical romanticism. Juanes got his start in the late 1980s as part of the Columbian metal band Ekhymosis, and released his first solo album in 2000, produced by the celebrated film composer Gustavo Santaolalla. The album, and its two follow-ups, garnered excellent reviews, several Grammy awards, and the adoration of millions of fans who appreciate the performer's unique blend of talents.
