 Jim Lauderdale Biography
Before breaking out as a recording artist in his own right in the 1990s, Jim Lauderdale was a respected Nashville songwriter who supplied hits to an array of country stars, including Rodney Crowell, Carlene Carter, and Vince Gill. An upholder of the "new traditionalist" ethos, Lauderdale excels at a variety of classic Americana styles--country, bluegrass, roots-rock, Western swing--and possesses a likeable, no-frills singing voice. His acclaimed albums often feature a glittering cast of country music icons, and Lauderdale has collaborated extensively with bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley.
