He loves to poke fun at celebrities like Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Geraldo Riviera and Oprah Winfrey, and spews jokes about marijuana, gays, sex, condoms, and the admission that he "ain't packing" (referring to his endowment). His skit titled "Should I Fight Mike Tyson If He Slaps My Girlfriend or My Mother" gets boring long before Martin comes to a conclusion. Recorded live at the Funny Bone Night Club, Philadelphia, Pennysylvania and The Comedy Store, Los Angeles, California in June 1993.

A good shot better than most episodes of his television show, but perhaps not as good as other similar comedians (even for those looking for the "black folks do this and white folks do this" form of comedy, there are other folks available to listen to). He deals with everything from hermaphroditic dogs to McDonald's shoot-ups. At times delivering inspired comedy, he also delves into the depths of lowbrow at times as well (lack of ass washing). FUNK IT was nominated for a 1996 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Comedy Album.
